Rajesh
Mirchandani is currently the presenter of Backstage,
Sundays on Radio 1, and has been for the past three
years. In his busy schedule he also presents the 5
Live Report on Radio 5 Live. He will also be popping
up on occasion all over the world for the Holiday
programme.
We’ve stolen him to
help with All Night Star Party on BBC2. Making
a one-night move from pop stars to real stars, Rajesh
is the roaming reporter in the Jodrell Bank visitor’s
centre.
Rajesh has had ten years'
experience in the media, a hugely varied career, encompassing
Newsnight, Radio 1 Breakfast Show,
Tomorrow's World and Glastonbury.
He’s made TV and radio
programmes around Asian issues, the ground-breaking
Café 21 debate show for Asian youth,
Not Welcome in Clubland, a radio documentary
on racism in clubs for Radio 1, and East, a
BBC2 documentary about young Asians on heroin.
The mix of music and culture
has peppered his career. In 1999 he was the presenter
of Talvin Singh Profile, part of BBC Choice
Asian Funk Weekend. In 2000 he was the narrator of Made
in Britain, a series of programmes based around
London Fashion Week, and even presented Working
in Education, a six-part series for BBC TWO’s
Learning Zone.
