Mostly made up of gases, Neptune does, however, have a hard rocky core, approximately the same mass as Earth. Its atmosphere is made up of hydrogen, helium, methane and an unidentified substance that gives it its rich blue colour. Neptune is the fourth largest planet in diameter, although it is actually larger in mass than Uranus. Like the other gas giants, Neptune has rings, which are very dark.
