One of the most dramatic objects in the night
sky, the bubble nebula certainly takes after
its name! The nebula is the smallest of three
surrounding the massive star star BD+602522.
The star emits a stellar wind and ionized gas,
which pushes surrounding gases into a bubble.
Starlight then ionizes the gas, causing it to
glow.
This nebula is about six light-years across
towards the constellation of Cassiopeia.
