Shakespeare: An Introduction (A177)
A short, introductory course to Shakespeare, focusing on two plays: The Taming of the Shrew and Romeo and Juliet. The course is available three times per year, lasts 12 weeks and is taught online.
An Introduction to the Humanities (A103/AZX103)
A nine-month broad introduction to the Arts, including Literature, with a study of the sonnet form in the first Block. This course is available twice a year, and is available with face-to-face or online tuition.
Approaching Literature (A210)
A nine-month introduction to the three main genres of Literature (poetry, prose fiction, drama). This course is available twice a year, and includes the study of three Shakespeare plays: As You Like It, Henry V and Othello.
Shakespeare: Text and Performance (AA306)
A nine-month intensive study of Shakespeare, covering nine plays and a number of sonnets. This course is available once a year, and includes a one-week residential school in London, with a visit to Shakespeare’s Globe for workshops and a performance.
The Renaissance in Europe: A Cultural Enquiry (AA305)
A nine-month interdisciplinary course, available once a year. It includes a section on poetry and drama, with Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice as one of the texts studied.
