A guide to the what's happening in the night sky in September
The following sky notes describe what may be seen in the night sky, soon after sunset at the beginning of September, for an observer situated in the UK.

As darkness falls the Milky Way stretches overhead from north to south. Its rich star-fields, star clusters and nebulae will reward casual sweeping with binoculars and closer inspection with telescopes, especially from a dark site.
