I'm an OU student
and I'm seriously considering the level 3 Cosmology course for next
year. One thing that troubles me, is the evidence for accelerated
expansion. I'm obviously missing something but if very distant objects
have massive red shifts, the as we are looking back in time when
making these observations, how does this show that expansion is
accelerating ?

You measure the acceleration by looking at HOW the distance has
changed with redshift.
