Well,
apart from scrutinising the surface of Mars and trying to analyse
the composition of known planets, scientists are also searching for
signs of intelligent life. The idea is that anything more sophisticated
than a tiny microbial blob would want to try and communicate, and
the best way of doing this is to send a signal into space.
The Search for
Extra Terrestrial Intelligence or SETI is a worldwide
collaboration in which radio telescopes scan the skies for signals.
Nothing unusual has been detected yet, but the search continues. If
you want to be part of it you can log onto SETI
and download a free program that analyses radio telescope data. |
