Age Exchange - based in Blackheath, London, Age Exchange has been working in this field for over twenty years.

Ambleside Oral History Group - holds an archive of 300 recordings about life in the Lake District

British Library National Sound Archive Oral History Collection - holds a large collection of audio and video reflecting on a vast range of aspects of life in the United Kingdom

BBC: 20th Century Vox - the archive of the BBC's Millennium project capturing stories from across the 1900s

East Midlands Oral History Project - based in Leicester, providing advice and support for anyone interested in collecting memories in the area

Emsource - if you're interested in the impact of the Second World War on the East Midlands, Emsource is worth a visit; it offers a range of archive items from the 1939-45 conflict

Exmoor Oral History Archive - an online introduction to the rich collection of Exmoor Life collected by Birdie Johnson

Imperial War Museum Sound Archive - an impressive audio collection built around a core of personal reminiscence captured on tape

Kings Cross Voices - while Kings Cross undergoes an enormous regeneration project, the KCVP is dedicated to recording the lives and people of the area

Mass Observation Archive - held at the University of Sussex, Mass Observation's archive comprises two collections; from the first project covering the 1930s to the 1950s and then the continuous project since 1981

Museum of Welsh Life Sound Collection - although mainly in Welsh, the St Fagans' collection includes some English-language recordings

North East Oral History Network - dedicated to providing support and focus to people working in this field in the North East of England

School of Scottish Studies Sound Archive - collected over fifty years, besides collections relating to Gaelic and Scots, the Edinburgh University collection features a large number of folk music recordings

South Wales Coalfield Collection - looked after by the University of Wales, Swansea, and mainly recorded during the 1970s, this collection reflects the life of the pit villages in the south of the country

Ulster Folk and Transport Museum - home to the only purpose-built sound archive facility in Northern Ireland

Waltham Forest Oral History Workshop - now in its twenty-first year, this local history archive features a wide number of online recordings
