Lapérouse is unique among Parisian restaurants in that it has retained the small private eating areas that were once popular among the wealthy.
The clientèle are given privacy to meet guests, and in addition to having a table luxuriously set for two places, rooms are also furnished with a couch; affairs could be conducted with the utmost discretion. Even today, you can hear the discreet warning cough of the waiters as they near the dining rooms.
On the wall, messages cut by lovers with their diamonds into the mirrors can be seen, evidence of the life and times of the café.
