Pont Neuf

This is the oldest surviving bridge in Paris having been completed in 1607 under the reign of Henri IV, and it was Henri who inaugurated the structure by riding his horse across it. Unlike other bridges at the time, Pont Neuf had no houses lining its sides; with just a pedestrian walkway, it offered views of the river.

The twelve-arched bridge still offers spectacular vistas along the Seine.
