SECURITY
We’ve
asked encryption guru Simon Singh to write an article
on encryption, from the early days to today. Simon, you
may remember, was the presenter of The Science of Secrecy,
which was a 5 part series bringing to life the hidden
history of codes and code breaking. He also wrote the
accompanying book, The Science of Secrecy, which was his
second book on cryptography, the first being the ground-breaking
The Code Book.
So
take a look at Simon’s article A
Brief History of the Science of Secrecy, where he
explains the ins and outs of ciphers. If monoalphabetic
and polyalphabetic ciphers are all a bit much for you,
take a look at our Encryption
Unravelled , an interactive journey through various
methods of cryptography, from the Caesar Cipher through
to public key cryptography. Learn along with us as we
outline how Alice and Bob can sneak a message past the
ever-watchful Eve.

is encryption? Whitfield Diffie, inventor of public
key encryption, explains. |
