Talking history

Visitors to our forums raised some historical points for debate.

Forum member Jimbo wanted to verify some family history

is there any info on the plantation of ireland where protestants from the lowlands of Scotland in the 17th Century were "relocated" to Northern Ireland to bump up the numbers.

Family history has it that we were thieves neerdo wells in the Stewartry area and were given the choice of staying in prison or going to Ulster. Our nearest town was Newtownstewart.

Can anyone help?
