To be certain about the extent of the risks we need to get our facts from more than one source. Charities, governmental statistical bodies and others are also measuring the levels of HIV infection
While offering a clear snapshot of the situation in the UK, the Health Promotion Agency is not the only source of statistical data on HIV and AIDS in the UK. Other information is available through Government statistical sources, for instance the National Statistics website,as well as statistical sites for the UK nations:
Wales
Scotland
Northern Island
Some charities provide good digests of HIV/AIDS statistics for the UK and other countries; an excellent example is at AVERT.
European-wide comparative data are available from the Centre for the Epidemiological Monitoring of AIDS.
Extensive data, mostly on the position in the USA but also including global information, is available from US official agencies including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
