  Glastonbury Tor - 13th December
Explore the mysterious and ancient Glastonbury Tor.

The trip will be lead by Eric Robnson, a former president of the Geologists Association.

Date 13 Dec 03 10.00 am until 4.00 pm

Meet at 1000 in the Silver Street carpark in Glastonbury (Grid Ref ST502387) - aiming to move off at 10.30.

For lunch, either bring your own, or arrange to get something in Glastonbury

We will walk up and down the Tor so choose your own walking shoes or boots.

The aim of the day is to look at the Tor in the light of the Terraces of Avalon programme from the series Landscape Mysteries.

Eric will talk to us about the Tor and its place in the geological setting and discuss the effect of mankind on the area. We will spend the morning on the Tor, come down for lunch and spend some time examining the building stones of the Abbey before finishing for the day.

It is an inland site, so risks are very low and no hard hat is required. However, it's probably going to be quite cold so warm, waterproof clothing is essential.

While it's a steep climb up the Tor, we shall be using a well-travelled path and shouldn't offer much in the way of hazard.

Tickets can be booked through south.west@ougs.org
