"I left school at eighteen, I did my A-levels, I didn't go into further education. I've got two young children and I think the fact that they're learning and seem to be a lot more familiar with technology than I was their age means that I'm now thinking, 'I don't want to be left behind'. I'm doing this course for me and to make sure I keep up to date.

The course has been quite hectic, we've found that there are a lot of modules to cover. It's quite a fast pace, but I think we're all coping very well with that and we're all enjoying it.

The big challenge was to go out and talk to people; to carry out a survey in the centre of York, to meet people and talk to people that I didn't know; I didn't know how they would react to the questions. We went to a Cyber-café - that was a new experience - and we're finding out more about people's use of new technology.

I've learnt an awful lot about people, the methods of study that people carry out, how that can impact upon people's lives. I've found it challenging, rewarding, a very good experience, and one that I would repeat."
