This course is designed for those beginning study in the Social Sciences at University. It has sections that study issues relevant to Democracy, including work on politics and economics.
Exploring the Classical World
This second level course looks at aspects of the Ancient Greek and Roman world. It was during this time that the modern conceptions of democracy were first formulated and acted upon.
Economics and Economic Change
A slightly more difficult course that is suitable for your second year of study. This studies economic issues, including work on the impact of globalisation, and how economic growth affects the environment.
International Development: Challenges for a World in Transition
Another course that is suitable for second level. This draws on a wide range of University disciplines, and looks at the origins of international development, what it means, and how we should react to it.
A World of Whose Making?
A course suitable for the third level, this draws on a variety of disciplines and looks at a range of issues that are involved in international relations including the role of the USA as a superpower, the influence of multinational corporations, and matters to do with acknowledging that different cultures do things differently, and how that sits with universal human rights.
