The Open University and the BBC World Service have joined forces to produce this major radio series on democracy. It illustrates various aspects of democracy around the world, with each programme coming from a different country. The series visits the USA (California), Cambodia, Ukraine, Bahrain and Uganda and asks wide ranging questions on the subject of democracy. Can there be too much democracy? Can democracy entrench division? What infrastructure and civil society needs to be in place before democracy can properly function? Is there any tension between democracy and religion? And can democracy be imposed from outside? Join us, together with presenter Robin Lustig as we explore the world of democracy.
