Yuehan works as a legal secretary. Most of
his firm's work relates to family law and he is interested in becoming
a social worker. He already has a degree and has looked into post
graduate social work courses, but decides that he needs more experience
before applying. Yuehan manages to get some voluntary work, supporting
a fathers’ group in a family centre, but he also wants to take
a relevant academic course part time.
Yuehan spends his year prior to starting
his social work course completing a Certificate
in Health and Social Care (K100). He finds the course useful
in helping him decide that he is making the right move, but also
in preparing for his interview!
Note: Yuehan cannot study for a social work
qualification with the Open University as he is not employed in
social work nor is he sponsored by a social work agency. He may
be able to use K100 to reduce the modules he needs to study if the
university he goes to can offer him a credit transfer.
