Safa
Safa began working part time in a nursery when her own children moved to secondary school. Safa has no formal qualifications, but has heard that she can study for a foundation degree in Early Years which would enable her to work and study for a qualification at the same time.

Safa is still worried about making the commitment without trying out some studying first, so she decides to do an Openings course with the Open University first. Understanding Children (Y156) helps Safa build her confidence in writing essays and reading the course materials. She also found that she was able to draw on her own experience as a mother and enjoyed thinking about new ideas.
Safa has now registered for the fist of her courses to build towards a Foundation Degree in Early Years. She hopes that this qualification will help her to get a full time job in a nursery school.
