7.28pm is when everything changes

Posted on 2009-07-14 by The Open2 team

Tonight [Tuesday 14th July] at 7.28pm, sandwiched between Adrian Chiles and Phil Mitchell on BBC One, there's something of a TV science event.

Bang Goes The Theory goes live with a two-minute chain reaction experiment.

If it works, it could well be the most spectacular piece of live television you'll see this year.

If it doesn't work, it could still be the most spectacular piece of live television you'll see this year.

Either way, you won't want to miss it...

Countdown to Bang: the laboratory takes shape

Posted on 2009-07-01 by The Open2 team

We went back to the top secret Bang Goes The Theory base in Bedfordshire to find out how work was progressing – here's what we saw.

Still very much a work in progress

Countdown to Bang: The wind tunnel

Posted on 2009-06-29 by The Open2 team

One of the highlights of this summer is promising to be Bang Goes The Theory, where our intrepid team will be pushing things until they explode and reveal their secrets.

Their lair is a converted former wind tunnel in Bedfordshire, and Open2 has been popping down from time to time to keep an eye on the process of turning a former RAF facility into the nation's biggest laboratory. We'll be sharing some photos of the process with you over the next week or so.

This, then, is the starting point – pretty much, as you'll see, how the plane-makers left the place.

An innocent-looking, disused facility...

But these people have plans for it...
